Denver Area Panhellenic announced its Woman of the Year and Alumnae Achievement award winners as well as five scholarship recipients at its annual spring luncheon April 24. The event was held at the Columbine Country Club and well attended.
Woman of the Year was awarded to Leigh Ann Kudloff, Gamma Phi Beta. Kudloff has been involved with Gamma Phi Beta at local, national and international levels. She is also a math teacher at Brady Exploratory School where she serves as math department chair.
Receiving the Alumnae Achievement award is Barbara Stover, Alpha Xi Delta. Stover has been an active member of the Mile High Professional Association of the Denver Assistance League. She is a librarian.
Of the five scholarship winners, three are working on advanced degrees and two are earning bachelor's degrees. Each of them received a $1000 scholarship.
RHO GAMMA, Sigma Kappa, attends Colorado School of Mines. In addition to her sorority involvement, she is chair of the Blue Key Honor Society, a peer mentor and marketing chair for the Up Til Dawn St. Judges Research Hospital.
Also attending Colorado School of Mines and a member of Sigma Kappa, Ann Lott is studying Materials and Metallurgical Engineering. She is treasurer of the Associated Students, logistics and finance chair of the Up Til Dawn fundraiser and a member of Order of Omega honor society.
Working on a Master's of Business Administration at University of Colorado, Denver, Kristin Overton, Chi Omega, is treasurer of the House Corporation Board at CU. She received her undergraduate degree in finance management from University of Iowa.
Another Chi Omega, Janna Fischer is studying law at CU, Boulder. Last fall she left her job as a newspaper designer to return to school and says she hopes to combine her writing skills with her interest in public service. In 2004 she won a professional award for news design from the Colorado Press Association. At CU she is serving as the Scholarship Adviser for CU Boulder chapter of Chi Omega.
Katie Hoversten, Delta Gamma, is studying full time to gain her degree as a Doctor of Physical Therapy at University of Colorado Denver Health Sciences. Her undergraduate degree in psychology was earned at University of North Dakota. Currently Hoverton is student liaison to the UCD Alumni Association and a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
The luncheon also served as an opportunity to thank outgoing DAP president Mariann Lowrie, Delta Gamma. Installation of new officers will be held at the May DAP meeting. Incoming president is Michelle Thatcher, Alpha Delta Pi.
Chairman of the awards committee was Stacey Slaughter, Delta Zeta. She was DAP president in 2008-2009 and delegate-at-large in 2009-2010. Chairman of the scholarship committee was Janet Cox, Theta Phi Alpha."
